Two days is Alleppey's sweet spot: one night on the water, one in the village — and enough slack to do nothing twice. Here's the sequence that consistently works. Alappuzha guide →
Day 1: arrive by late morning, lunch in town or straight onto the boat. Board at Finishing Point or Punnamada by early afternoon; the cruise takes you into the canals through sunset, dinner on deck, mooring in a quiet channel overnight.
Day 2: dawn canoe before breakfast (the canal glass lasts about an hour after sunrise), then checkout mid-morning. Transfer to a Kainakary or Nedumudy homestay — afternoon bund cycle, toddy-shop lunch where served, and a nothing-special sunset that everyone remembers.
Variants: swap the homestay for a backwater resort if the group wants a pool; stretch to three days by adding the Kumarakom side via the cross-lake route. Budget-wise this plan has a version for every tier — see 48 Hours in Alappuzha in the journal.
