What happens after you send
Direct Houseboat Booking in Alleppey
Booking a houseboat through Boating Booking means sending your request to the booking desk, which routes it to the participating operator. This page sets out what happens after you press send and where the difference between an enquiry and a confirmed booking sits.
"Direct" is a word that gets used loosely in travel. Here it means something narrow and checkable: you send your request to Boating Booking, the displayed amount is attached to your enquiry, and the request is routed to the participating operator of the boat you chose. It does not mean you are chatting privately with the boat's owner, and it does not mean the boat is instantly yours.
Submitting the booking form creates a booking request. It is not a confirmed reservation until the desk and the operator confirm your dates.
From enquiry to confirmed booking
- You choose a houseboat — or describe your group and let the desk shortlist boats that fit. Layout, capacity, amenities and the current published amount are on each boat page.
- You send dates, guests and preferences through the booking form or on WhatsApp: the booking form for a specific boat, or the desk directly if you are still deciding.
- The amount shown on the boat page is attached to your request so you can review the same figure when you enquire.
- Your request is recorded with a booking reference (it starts with BB-). You can keep it, quote it on WhatsApp, or use it to manage the trip.
- The relevant participating operator is notified through the platform's notification routing, alongside the booking desk. Notification delivery can be delayed or fail like any message channel, and it is not a confirmation.
- Confirmation follows separately. The desk (with the operator) confirms the dates for your boat; only then is the trip confirmed, and only then do the cancellation terms that apply after confirmation come into play.
Enquiry ≠ confirmed booking. A recorded request means we have your details and your dates; it does not mean the boat is held for you.
What this process does not promise
- No instant confirmation. Confirmation depends on a person at the operator's end agreeing to your dates.
- No automatic acceptance. A submitted request cannot self-confirm; there is no automated allocation of boats.
- No payment is taken when you submit an enquiry. You send your request without paying online; the payment link for the 50% advance is shared only after the operator confirms availability for your dates.
- No guaranteed response time. We aim to respond quickly during business hours, but we do not publish a promise that the system cannot enforce.
- No private owner contact details. Guest messages reach the desk and the operator's booking channel, not the owner's personal numbers.
We would rather write this plainly than let a confirmation-shaped screen imply more than it does. The booking page, the confirmation page and this page say the same thing: the request is recorded, and confirmation follows.
The amount, and how you pay
The amount recorded with your request is the same figure displayed on the boat page. Send your dates to confirm the applicable amount for your trip; see current houseboat amounts for more information.
Payment is settled with the operator as described on the boat page and at confirmation. Anything an operator asks for directly (an advance, a fuel supplement for a long route, a special menu) is between you and the operator, and should be in writing on your booking thread before you pay it.
Changes and cancellations
Before confirmation, a request can be cancelled freely — nothing has been charged online. After confirmation, the operator's window applies; unless the operator states otherwise at confirmation, the standard window on this site is free cancellation up to 7 days before check-in, with the full policy spelling out the days inside that window.
- Keep your booking reference (BB-…) — it is how the desk finds your request.
- Tell the desk about changes as early as you can; dates are easier to move before an operator has planned the crew day.
- Any advance paid directly to an operator is governed by that operator's receipt terms, so keep the message trail.
Direct booking — FAQ
Is a submitted request a confirmed booking?
No. It is a recorded enquiry. Confirmation happens separately, once the booking desk and the boat's operator confirm your dates.
What amount is attached to my enquiry?
The amount shown on the boat page is attached to your enquiry. The booking desk can confirm the applicable amount for your dates with the operator.
Am I talking directly to the houseboat owner?
No — you are dealing with the Boating Booking desk, which routes your enquiry to the participating operator of the boat you chose. Owner contact details are not passed on.
Do I pay online?
Not when you submit the enquiry. You send your request without paying online; once the operator confirms availability for your dates, our desk shares the payment link for the 50% advance, with the remaining 50% payable at boarding.
What if my dates are not available?
The desk comes back with the operator's answer and, if you want, suitable alternatives in the same class. Nothing is charged while a request is unconfirmed.
Can I book from outside India?
Yes. Rates are in Indian rupees; your bank or card provider applies its own conversion if you settle locally. Tell us your arrival window and we will keep the itinerary realistic.
Send a booking enquiry
Share your dates, guest count and must-haves. Your enquiry is recorded, the amount is calculated by the existing pricing system, and confirmation follows separately with the operator.
